Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education/Directors of Clinical Education & CCCE/CIs:
As Promotion, Representative-at-Large for the APTA Education Section, I would like to personally invite you to become a member of the APTA Education Section and specifically the Clinical Education Special Interest Group (CESIG).
The Education Section currently consists of 4 highly active Special Interest Groups: Academic Administrators, Academic Faculty, Clinical Education, and PTA Educators. Each special interest group maintains focused goals to serve these special interests and membership within the Education Section. Membership in a SIG is of no additional cost, with APTA Education Section membership.
The Education Section and four SIGs are enjoying increasing membership levels and lively networking, as well as top-notch scholarly activities; with focused educational programming at conferences and through the Journal of PT Education. Not to mention Honors and Awards for Education Section members. Once you renew your Section membership, you may also become a SIG member by registering online via the section website. Education Section members may serve in section leadership roles, service committees and influence the direction of PT and PTA Education through section activities and initiatives. This is a great time to renew/re-join or join for the first time as the APTA Education Section is embarking on a new Strategic Plan for 2010.
We value the contributions you may provide to membership and hope you will continue to enjoy the many benefits for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning through the Education Section. The discounted registration for any Education Section conference is worth the cost of membership alone! Take full advantage to improve your role as educator, clinical educator, researcher and scholar.

EVERY PHYSICAL THERAPIST & ASSISTANT IS AN EDUCATOR
Especially the highly valued ACCE/DCE’s for PT & PTA Education Programs. We would like to invite you to consider joining the APTA Education Section & the Clinical Education Special Interest Group Why Join?
The Clinical Education Special Interest Group (CESIG) serves as a resource and forum for individuals who have a professional concern for the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. The CESIG has created significant and lasting relationships between members of academic programs and clinical facilities in addressing needs of clinical education from both of these perspectives. Membership in the CE SIG is a no-cost benefit to your Education Section membership fee!
Here are a few quotes from your CE counterparts regarding the value of Education Section membership:
“The Clinical Education Section SIG has offered me the opportunity to network with other clinicians and academicians interested in promoting and improving clinical education. I have had the ability to be a mentee and to mentor others.”
Mary Dockter, PT, PhD, ACCE University of Mary, North Dakota
“I cannot imagine working with student interns in any capacity without having the Clinical Education Special Interest Group available to me! The annual meetings of this group are critical to keeping me informed of the myriad of issues related to practice and clinical education. Like most SIG’s, our greatest resources are our members who share like interests. In the first meeting that I attended, I met many individuals whom, to this day, are my ‘go to’ colleagues when I need assistance or advice. It just doesn’t get any better than this and … we are a really fun group!”
Corrie Odom, PT, DPT, MS, ATC, ACCE Duke University, North Carolina
